1978 Membership started with 49, Gained 3, lost 3, ended year with 49. Theme for the Year. “Reach out.” President Joe Strang  was our local jeweller and certainly took to heart the theme for the year in that the club reached out to form a twinning link with Ballerup Rotary Club in Denmark.

Rotarian John Browning served our club & Rotary for 6 years & 10 months Rotary service January 1972- December 1978.

Benevolent Fund stood at £2539.98 as a result of a Pro –Am Golf

Tournament and Joe Strang’s Lady Bird Scheme.

Club Hosted Youth Exchange.








1977 Membership started with 46, Gained 3, lost 0, ended year with 49. Theme for the Year. "Serve to unite mankind.” Andrew Gold Headmaster at East Milton  Primary school was our President.

Annual subscription must go to £22 to allow for increase in District dues plus entrance fee increased to £10.00.

Anticipated cost of Cumnock outing was £450-£500.

Six members had 100% attendance.

Club involved in bringing Kittoch Rotary Club into the town









1976 Membership started with 46, Gained 4, Lost 4, ended year with 46. Theme for the “I believe in Rotary" President David McKay who's classification was Car Repairs had his first 8 weeks in office touring Australia.

Annual Subscription increased to £20.00.

Cost of Widows & Orphans outing now £353.89.

Income generated by 200 club was £502.73.

Once again a social evening arranged for senior citizens.

Transported on a weekly basis a handicapped person by the name of William Owen from Baillieston to East Kilbride and back.

Club collected unwanted spectacles and continued to support






1975 Membership started with 41, Gained 7,  lost 9, Ended year with 39. Theme for the Year “To dignify the ". This years President was our local butcher Dan Wright. 

Rotarian John S.G. Clark counselled Graduate awardee Mark Henrichs from Illinois, this was a first for the club.

A cheque for £130.00 sent to Royal Commonwealth for the Blind for their eye camps.

Vocational visit arranged for Tennent’s Brewery.

Cumnock outing still to the fore and being supported by grant from District Council.
Sheila Crawford went on a Youth Exchange visit to Holland.

Thoughts about resurrecting 200 club were spoken about if volunteers could be found to organise it.
